It’s been a while ride, but Rachel and Darren will be leaving the Lord Nelson at the end of March. Given the current economic crisis, with our costs growing exponentially and people coming out less, it’s just not viable to continue to offer the same quality of food and drink at an affordable price. We simply won’t compromise on quality (either in the local producers that we support or in the manner in which we present said produce), therefore it’s with a heavy heart that our last day will be Sunday 19th March (Mother’s Day).
We’ve had ups, we’ve had downs, but most importantly we’ve met some awesome people along the way. We’re super proud of the vibrant energy we’ve brought to what was a venue stuck in the doldrums when we took it on 5 years ago. We’ve put the Lord Nelson on the map for exceptional food, winning numerous awards including a Taste of The West Gold, a Food Drink Devon Gold and a lux award for the best street gastro pub in the SW. Plus our Sunday Roast has become legendary (watch this space for our plans to run a ‘Sunday Club’ pop up roast on days throughout the year to sate those Nelson Roast appetites).
We’d like to invite all those amazing people we’ve met over the years to our closing party on Saturday 18th March, with music from local legends King Shambles. We’ll be around all day, with nibbles served in the afternoon and I’m sure many a story to share.
Our actual last day is on Sunday 19th March, which is Mother’s Day. We’re already nearly fully booked so have extended bookings up until 4.30pm, so if you’re looking to come make sure you book now.
